Alexandria’s Qaitbay Citadel Hosts Its First Sound & Light Show
This is the first time such a show has been displayed at one of the country’s Islamic labeled heritage sites.
Alexandria’s historic Qaitbay Citadel has played host to the governorate’s first Sound and Light Show. This is also the first time such a show has been displayed at one of the country’s Islamic labeled heritage sites.
The project is part of a broader government plan to create new tourist destinations in the country and to enhance the country’s tourist potential more broadly.
The Sound and Light Show is a popular attraction at the country’s Pharaonic era monuments, and involves light displays as well as narrated audio histories of the monuments in question, in both Arabic and foreign languages.
The Qaitbay Citadel’s show costs EGP 150 for Egyptian citizens and EGP 1,125 for foreign visitors, with the narration telling the history of the city of Alexandria, through its Greco-Roman, Coptic and early Islamic eras.
Alexandria’s historic Nabi Daniel Street, as well as the Greco-Roman Museum, have also recently been the recipients of touristic upgrades.
