Art Jameel Launches Open Call for Curatorial Exhibition Proposals
The open call is looking for proposals that explore the Red Sea, exploring its geographies, histories and ecologies.
Art Jameel, an organisation dedicated to supporting art across the Middle East that is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, has unveiled a new opportunity for aspiring Saudi art curators: an open call for exhibition proposals. The chosen exhibition will grace the first-floor gallery of Hayy Arts at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah in May 2024.
The central theme of this open call revolves around the Red Sea, exploring its geographies, histories, ecologies, and the dynamic movement of people and ideas within the region. Successful curators will closely collaborate with the Art Jameel team, receiving guidance throughout the exhibition's development, production, design, logistics, and installation. The application is open for people residing in geographies across the Red Sea including Egypt, Saudi, Yemen, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Palestine and Jordan.
Art Jameel welcomes early-career curators, defined as those with limited or no prior institutional curatorial projects. The Curatorial Open Call offers a platform for fresh ideas and diverse narratives within the Red Sea region. The deadline for submissions is October 15th; for application guidelines and more information, visit the official Art Jameel website.
