Commercial operations of an autonomous taxi service have begun in Dubai, with self-driving vehicles now available in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah.
The service has been launched by the Roads and Transport Authority, with rides accessible through the Uber app and the Apollo Go platform.
The initial phase includes the deployment of 100 autonomous taxis integrated into the city’s transport network, with plans to expand the fleet gradually in response to demand.
The rollout is being delivered in partnership with Apollo Go and WeRide.
Authorities said the service forms part of the Dubai Self-Driving Transport Strategy and reflects ongoing efforts to integrate advanced mobility technologies into the emirate’s transport system.
