Bikes & Scooters Will Be Implemented at Makkah & Holy Sites
Electric scooters were first offered by the Transport General Authority during the 2022 Hajj season.
The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites plan to promote the use of light transportation, including scooters and bicycles. The initiative looks to educate its community on the proper and safe use of these vehicles within Makkah and throughout the holy sites.
The initiative will mostly be implemented in pedestrian pathways, as well as neighbourhoods, parking lots, near Mount Arafat as well as at Umm Al-Qura University.
Umm Al-Qura University provided 30 scooters at four stations across its campus, while 70 electric scooters were set up in Makkah to be used by over 1,100 people.
Electric scooters were first offered by the Transport General Authority during the 2022 Hajj season, when pilgrims were able to use them for ease of transport between holy sites.
