This decision aims to reduce traffic accidents and enhance road safety.
Egypt's Ministry of Interior has announced a new regulation requiring all applicants for a driver's license to present a medical certificate confirming they are free from drug use. This decision aims to reduce traffic accidents and enhance road safety.
The regulation, published in the Official Gazette No. 1741 of 2025, amends Articles 259 and 261 of the Traffic Law's executive regulations. It mandates that applicants undergo comprehensive medical examinations, including drug screenings, at approved medical centres designated by the Ministry. The policy is set to take effect immediately, with enforcement beginning at all licensing centres nationwide.
