'Camel Lexicon' Launched to Underscore Cultural Significance of Camel

The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language has added a ‘Camel Lexicon’ to their Falak platform for linguistic databases, in recognition of the Kingdom’s designation of 2024 as the Year of the Camel.

The Falak platform, launched in early 2024, is an extensive database of Arabic linguistic lexicons, with over 1.5 billion words documented. The platform was created to promote the Arabic language and preserve its rich cultural heritage.

The Year of the Camel, and the launching of ‘Camel Lexicon’, aims to encourage people to learn and understand the historical significance of these animals, which symbolise loyalty and authenticity, in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as their cultural significance in Saudi society.

The ‘Camel Lexicon’ provides comprehensive information about both the history and culture of camels, and has been compiled primarily for scholars and researchers.
