Chevron Will Drill Two Gas Wells in Egypt in 2026

Chevron is set to drill two new natural gas wells in Egypt in 2026, one in the Narges field and another in the Western Mediterranean in partnership with Shell. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show 2026, where Chevron’s President of Exploration Operations, Clay Neff, described Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean as key pillars in the company’s investment strategy.

Chevron, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, operates across exploration, production, and energy infrastructure globally.

Neff said the company aims to increase its operational capacity in the region by up to 50% over the next five years. Chevron currently produces more than 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day across the Eastern Mediterranean, with a significant portion supplied to Egypt through pipelines and liquefaction facilities.

The company is also pushing forward with broader expansion plans, including upgrading existing infrastructure and boosting production capacity. This includes ongoing engineering work on the Aphrodite gas field in Cyprus and a newly signed agreement to build a subsea pipeline linking Cyprus directly to Egypt, positioning the country as a key regional energy hub.

According to Neff, meeting domestic and regional demand remains the priority before scaling exports. He pointed to Egypt’s established energy infrastructure as a major advantage, noting that future discoveries and capacity expansions are expected to gradually increase export potential while maintaining local supply.
