Composer Hany Shenouda & Chanter Mahmoud Al-Tohamy Join Ramadan Collab
Composer Hany Shenouda and Islamic chanter Mahmoud Al-Tohamy are bringing their sonic visions together for the Holy Month.
Music composer Hany Shenouda is teaming up with Islamic chanter Mahmoud Eltohamy for a new musical project, which is set to air during the upcoming Ramadan season. The artists shared a snippet of their jam session, singing along to the iconic Egyptian song ‘Ana Ba’asha’ El Bahr’ and leaving their fans yearning for the upcoming collaboration.
Shenouda is one of the pioneers of Egyptian contemporary music, having founded and led one of Egypt’s first modern bands, ‘Al Massriyeen’, in 1977. They’ve cultivated a unique sound that’s lived on for decades, and has even made its presence known in overseas productions like Hulu’s hit series ‘Ramy’, which featured tracks like ‘Mafatshi Leh’ and ‘Lounga 79’.
Eltohamy meanwhile is best known for his soulful performances of spiritual hymns and Islamic chants, making him one of the art form’s leading voices.
