Construction to Begin on New Railway Network Linking Oman & the UAE
Estimated to be built for USD 3 billion, the network will link the UAE’s Al Ain to Oman’s Sohar by a 43-minute rail journey.

Hafeet Rail, an amalgamation of Oman Rail and Etihad Rail, will soon begin construction of a new railway network that will link Oman with the UAE. The railway network is estimated to be built at a value of USD 3 billion.
Connecting the UAE’s Al Ain to Oman’s Sohar by a 43-minute rail journey, the new line will host both passenger and freight trains, with the latter being capable of transporting 25,000 tonnes of cargo in one trip. Freight trains will reach up to 120 km per hour, with passenger trains able to reach up to 200 km per hour.
