Defibrillators to be Installed in Egyptian Airports
These devices will also be rolled out in other areas with high footfall, such as train stations and places of worship.
The Ministry of Health and Population has announced that automated external defibrillators (AEDs) will be installed in the arrivals and departures halls of airports across Egypt, as well as train and metro stations, places of worship, tourist attractions, heritage sites, hotels and fire engines and police cars.
The presence of AEDs in locations that receive the most footfall will allow quick treatment for those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. This occurs most frequently amongst the elderly but can affect anyone, especially those with undiagnosed health conditions. The use of these AEDs within minutes of cardiac arrest can dramatically improve survival rates.
