Dubai Allocates AED 560 Million to Mosque Sponsorship Initiative

Dubai has pledged AED 560 million towards the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative, an effort to construct, renovate, and maintain mosques across the emirate. The announcement was made during a meeting between Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and key contributors, including donors, mosque patrons, and real estate developers involved in the initiative.

Launched in 2021, the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative is a collaborative effort between the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), aimed at ensuring mosque construction aligns with the city’s urban expansion. The latest funding will be allocated to developing new prayer spaces in rapidly growing communities, upgrading existing facilities, and integrating sustainable energy solutions into mosque infrastructure.

During the announcement, Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the role of public-private partnerships in shaping Dubai’s infrastructure. Several major firms—including Emaar, Damac, Azizi Developments, Danube Properties, ORO24 Developments, and HRE Developments—are actively contributing to the initiative.
