Dubai Healthcare City Road Upgrade Doubles Capacity to 3,000 Vehicles
The RTA has finalised enhancements at Dubai Healthcare City’s Street 13 exit, doubling traffic capacity and reducing congestion in one of the city’s key medical and residential corridors.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a traffic capacity upgrade at the Street 13 exit of Dubai Healthcare City, doubling its capacity to 3,000 vehicles per hour.
The upgrade involved converting the exit from a stop-controlled junction into a free-flowing traffic system through the addition of a new acceleration lane. The service road was also widened from one lane to two over a 500-metre stretch, allowing smoother traffic movement from Al Riyadh Street toward Oud Metha and Sheikh Rashid Roads.
According to the RTA, these enhancements are expected to reduce congestion and waiting times by up to 50% during peak hours. The surrounding area - home to several hospitals, medical centres, schools, residences and commercial facilities - is set to benefit from improved accessibility and reduced travel times.
The latest upgrade builds on earlier improvements in the vicinity, including the expansion of the Umm Hurair Road exit from two to three lanes, which increased capacity by 50% and cut congestion by over 40% during rush hours. Additional adjustments had also been made to entry and exit points between Umm Hurair and Oud Metha, where new deceleration and acceleration lanes were added.
