Egypt Braces for Temperatures Above 40°C From May 7th to May 12th
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warns of intense heat nationwide, urging residents to take precautions and stay hydrated.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a weather forecast warning of soaring temperatures across the country, with conditions set to peak between May 7th and May 12th.
Daytime temperatures will range from "hot to very hot" nationwide, while nights are expected to remain warm, averaging in the mid-20s°C. Early morning mist is likely in several regions, including Greater Cairo, the Delta, the northern coast, canal cities, central Sinai, and Upper Egypt.
In Greater Cairo and the Delta, temperatures will steadily rise to reach 38°C on Sunday, before easing slightly to 34°C by Monday. Nighttime lows in these areas are expected to stay between 19°C and 24°C.
Northern coastal areas, which are usually cooler, will also see above-average heat, with daytime highs of up to 36°C and lows ranging from 17°C to 22°C.
The most intense conditions will be in Upper Egypt. Northern Upper Egypt is forecast to hit highs of 42°C by Sunday, while Southern Upper Egypt may see daytime temperatures soar to 44°C, easing to around 40°C later in the period. Nighttime lows in these areas will hover between 22°C and 26°C.
The EMA has advised residents to limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours and remain well-hydrated, as the high temperatures are expected to persist throughout the forecast period.
