Egypt Wins African Games Title in Ghana With Total of 192 Medals
Egypt took home 102 gold medals at 13th African Games, marking the 9th win for the country since the event began in 1965.
Egyptian athletes taking part in the 13th edition of the African Games in Accra, Ghana have pulled off a historic victory, securing 192 medals across a variety of disciplines in the continental competition. The total includes 102 gold medals, 47 silver, and 43 bronze, cementing the country’s position as champion of the Games.
Egypt also won the title at its last edition in 2019 in Morocco, taking home the same number of gold medals exactly. This year’s win marks the ninth time that the Pharaohs earned this position; Egypt has now won 70% of all African Games since its inception in 1965.
The current team is composed of 390 athletes participating in over 20 disciplines, including track and field athletics, volleyball, boxing, and swimming, amongst many others.
