Egypt's Hafez Sets Guinness World Record for Longest Underwater Dive
Walaa Hafez makes history again. becoming the first quadriplegic athlete to complete the longest underwater dive - a 6-hour endurance test at the Suez Canal Authority’s international pool.

Captain Walaa Hafez has set a new Guinness World Record with a 6-hour, 4-minute, and 45-second underwater dive at the Suez Canal Authority’s international swimming pool in Ismailia. This was Hafez’s first endurance dive since a car accident left him quadriplegic, making the achievement unprecedented in the sport.
The event was attended by Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, and Major General Akram Galal, Governor of the Canal. Representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the Egyptian Diving and Rescue Federation were also present.
In 2015, Captain Hafez completed a 51-hour, 24-minute, and 13-second dive, setting an earlier world record before the accident. Captain Hafez currently serves as Secretary for the Disabled Persons Secretariat of the Homeland Defenders Party in Ismailia.
