Egypt's Remittances Hit Record USD 30.2B in First Nine Months of 2025
September 2025 inflows were USD 3.6 billion versus USD 2.7 billion a year earlier, while Q2 2025 totalled USD 10.02 billion compared to USD 9.37 billion in Q1.
Remittances from Egyptians working abroad reached a record USD 30.2 billion in the first nine months of 2025, up 45.1% from USD 20.8 billion in the same period of 2024, according to the Central Bank of Egypt.
On a monthly basis, inflows rose 30.9% in September 2025 to USD 3.6 billion, compared with USD 2.7 billion in September 2024. Central Bank of Egypt data also showed remittances totalled USD 10.02 billion in the second quarter of 2025, up from USD 9.37 billion in the first quarter.
Remittances are among Egypt’s main sources of foreign currency, alongside tourism revenues and Suez Canal receipts.
In March 2024, a fourth devaluation of the local currency and a six-percentage-point interest-rate hike helped unify hard-currency rates in the domestic market.
