Remittances from Egyptians working abroad reached a record USD 41.5 billion in 2025, marking the highest annual inflows recorded for the country, according to the Central Bank of Egypt.
The total compares with USD 29.6 billion in 2024, reflecting a 40.5% year-on-year increase. The rise equates to an additional USD 11.9 billion sent by Egyptians abroad over the year.
In the first half of fiscal year 2025/2026, remittance inflows increased by 29.6% to approximately USD 22.1 billion, compared with around USD 17.1 billion recorded during the July to December 2024 period. The half-year figures provide an early indicator for the current fiscal cycle and align with the broader upward trajectory seen in the 2025 annual total.
On a monthly basis, December 2025 recorded USD 4.0 billion in remittances, up 24.0% from USD 3.2 billion in December 2024. The central bank noted that the December 2025 reading represents the highest single-month total on record.
