Late legendary actor Ahmed Mazhar’s most well-known talent was, of course, acting, but a passion that served as his escape was planting.

His home is now a public garden, and Egypt’s first privately owned botanical garden.

In an effort by his son, Shehab Mazhar, to honour his father’s legacy and love for plants, the garden has become an open space to the public.

The garden brings together thousands of plant species from around the world, including orchids, bamboo, and an extensive cactus collection, reflecting Ahmed Mazhar’s long-standing personal interest in plants and horticulture.

Visitors can explore the space as a public green haven, showcasing a wide range of global plant varieties within the city.
