Egyptian Drug Authority Increases Production of Essential Medicines
The authority has increased production of antibiotics, as well as medicines for blood pressure, heart problems and cancer.
In order to curb the shortage of essential medicines in the country, the Egyptian Drug Authority has been producing additional amounts of pharmaceuticals, in particular antibiotics and medicines related to blood pressure, heart problems and cancer-related treatments.
The production of these medicines comes in line with the government’s efforts to quell the recent drug shortage brought about by fiscal issues. A shortage of foreign currency has been obstructing the importing of vital substances used in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.
The Egyptian Drug Authority has so far produced around 81.6 million packages of around 136 different pharmaceutical products.
