In December 2024, Egyptian exports surged by 9.6%, according to the monthly ‘Foreign Trade Data’ released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
The export value reached USD 3.96 billion in December, compared to USD 3.61 billion in December 2023. The increase was primarily driven by a rise in petroleum products (128.5%), fresh fruits (23.4%), ready-made clothes (17.6%), and pastries and other food preparations (37.1%).
The data also showed an increase in imports, which rose by 11.3%, totaling USD 8.11 billion in December 2024, compared to USD 7.28 billion in the same month of 2023. This increase was mainly attributed to higher prices of essential commodities, such as natural gas, cars, corn, and raw plastic materials.
