Entire City Dedicated to Space Research is Landing in Egypt

Buckle up, we’re heading to outer space! Well, not just yet, but Egypt is making plans on building its space city by the end of the year.

After its inauguration, Egypt will be one of 10 countries around the world to have its own complex dedicated to space research. This particular complex is set to be built across 123 acres, and include 23 buildings.

Chief of the Egyptian Space Agency Mohamed El Qousy stated that the city will feature a space academy, a research centre, a museum, a satellite assembly centre, as well as the headquarters of the African Space Agency.

On the sidelines of the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Sharm El Sheikh this November, the Egyptian Space Agency will launch a satellite to oversee the negative effects of climate change by the end of 2023.

Earlier this month, the Egyptian Space Agency signed a deal with South Africa to work together and encourage space discovery and raise knowledge about the usage of technological resources, among a number of other goals in the near future.
