Famed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass Brings Khufu to Life in Debut Novel

Renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass has added a new feather to his ever-so-distinctive hat by publishing his debut novel, titled ‘King Khufu and the Secret Room’, in Paris. Dr. Hawass, who has been involved in several archaeological excavations and discoveries in Egypt, including the identification of the mummy of Hatshepsut and the discovery of the tombs of the pyramid builders at Giza, has expanded his horizons by venturing into fiction writing.

Co-authored with Veronique Vernel and published by Orients Editions, the novel follows a young King Khufu as he uncovers the secrets hidden in a mysterious chamber. Dr. Hawass revealed that a number of Hollywood filmmakers have expressed interest in turning the book into a movie.

The novel will soon be published in Arabic by Nahdat Misr Publishing House in Cairo, further expanding its reach to Egyptian readers.
