First Eco-Friendly Nursery in the Arab World Established in Siwa
The building is constructed of natural materials, like wood and stabilised natural soil, with a carbon emissions score of zero.
The establishment of the first eco-friendly nursery in Egypt and the Arab world has been announced by the Minister of Social Solidarity for Egypt. The project is a cooperative effort between his ministry and the Central House and Building Research Agency of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Communities.
The nursery is located in the village of Aghurmi in Siwa, and is part of an initiative by the Egyptian government to keep in pace with the global trend of adopting environmentally friendly systems in various fields.
The entire building is constructed of natural materials, namely wood and stabilised natural soil, and has a carbon emissions score of zero. What would normally be reinforced concrete has been replaced with a jaguarina wooden structure to withstand the hot, dry climate in Siwa, and what would traditionally be brick wall has been formed of natural soil.
