First Specialised AI Diploma for Bankers Launches This Year

New Giza University and the Egyptian Banking Institute have signed a memorandum of understanding to launch Egypt’s first specialised artificial intelligence diploma tailored to the banking sector, marking a new step in aligning higher education with the country’s financial and digital transformation agenda.

The diploma will be delivered under Fintech Egypt’s Digital Academy, which operates under the umbrella of the Central Bank of Egypt, and is designed to equip banking professionals with practical AI skills directly applicable to financial services. The programme combines academic instruction with applied training, drawing on real banking case studies, hands-on tools and implementation frameworks.

The curriculum is structured around five integrated training tracks covering core areas of artificial intelligence in banking. These include introductory principles of AI with sector-specific applications, AI tools and methodologies, data management and governance, ethics and AI risk management, and strategies for implementing and scaling AI solutions within banking operations.

Participants can complete the full diploma by enrolling in all five tracks or choose individual programmes based on specific professional development needs. The initiative builds on the expansion of Fintech Egypt’s Digital Academy, which was launched in 2023 in partnership with the Egyptian Banking Institute to develop national capabilities in financial technology, artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

Since its launch, the academy has delivered programmes focused on generative AI in finance and introduced fintech courses across multiple universities, including New Giza University.

The Central Bank of Egypt has also moved to integrate digital finance education into higher education through the introduction of a bachelor’s degree in banking sciences, set to be offered at selected faculties of commerce from the 2025/2026 academic year.
