Former Ministry HQ Will Be Transformed Into Innovation District
The former Ministry of Interior headquarters in Abdeen will be transformed into a state-of-the-art district by the end of 2023.
Egypt's Sovereign Fund (TSFE) is partnering with A Developments to transform the former Ministry of Interior headquarters in Abdeen, Cairo, into a state-of-the-art innovation district. This development aims to revive downtown Cairo by offering students, entrepreneurs and youth with an array of facilities, including retail, technology hubs and incubators, office spaces, a hotel and hospitality component, and a branch campus for IPAG Business School of Paris.
This development project follows the TSFE's investment strategy to preserve Egypt's historical landmarks while generating sustainable financial returns. The transformation of the former Ministry of Interior headquarters hopes to contribute significantly to the revitalization of Khedival Cairo, which has recently seen several government ministries move to the New Administrative Capital.
To ensure the project's success, the TSFE and A Developments have conducted technical studies and surveying before launching the bidding process. They have hired BDP, a renowned firm in the field of adaptive reuse of historical buildings, as the master planner and architect for the project, with international sustainability and energy efficiency standards in mind. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
