Former Ministry of Interior Building to Host Marriott Hotel by 2029
The hotel is part of a plan to convert the Lazoghli Complex into a hub of commercial, educational and recreational spaces.
The former headquarters of the Ministry of Interior and State Security in Lazoghli Square is set to be transformed into a luxury hotel, according to a new agreement signed between the Sovereign Egypt Fund, Reliance Ventures and the Marriott International Group.
Set to open its doors in 2029, the hotel will be part of a plan to convert the Lazoghli Complex into a hub of commercial, educational and recreational spaces. The hotel will feature modern and smart rooms, and aims to attract younger tourists.
The rehabilitation of the Lazoghli Complex is part of a larger strategy by the government, as announced by the Minister of Planning Hala Al-Saeed in 2022, to convert the former Ministries in the Downtown area into public-use buildings.
