Four Trains Added on Cairo–Aswan Line for Mid-Year School Break

Four additional trains have been introduced on the Cairo–Aswan railway line in both directions to accommodate increased passenger demand during the mid-year school break, according to the National Authority for Egyptian Railways.

The authority said the temporary services will operate from January 22nd, 2026 through mid-February, with the aim of supporting domestic tourism, serving students and tour operators, and easing pressure on existing services during the seasonal peak.

Talgo trains will run on the Upper Egypt route on alternating days. Train 2040 will operate from Cairo to Aswan between January 22nd and February 15th, while train 2041 will run from Aswan to Cairo from January 23rd to February 16th.

In addition, two air-conditioned services have been scheduled: train 1938 will operate Cairo–Aswan from January 22nd to February 15th, and train 1939 will run Aswan–Cairo from January 23rd to February 16th.
