GEM Tickets Now Online-Only on Weekends & Holidays Due to High Demand
Effective November 8th, all weekend (Friday and Saturday) and public holiday tickets must now be booked online through the museum’s official website.
Following an overwhelming surge in visitors that pushed the Grand Egyptian Museum to full capacity today, November 7th, management has announced a new ticketing policy aimed at streamlining access and preserving the visitor experience.
Effective November 8th, all weekend (Friday and Saturday) and public holiday tickets must now be booked online through the museum’s official website (www.gem.eg). On-site sales will be suspended during these high-traffic days but will continue as usual on weekdays.
The move comes as the GEM continues to draw record-breaking crowds since its official opening on November 4th, welcoming 18,000 visitors on its first day alone. The museum stated that the updated policy aims to ensure smooth entry and maintain safety standards.
Visitors who couldn’t enter due to capacity limits will be able to reuse their tickets on another day, while all existing online bookings remain valid.
