General Food Authority Pays First Installments to Wheat Farmers
Around 552,535 tonnes of wheat from 2,751 farmers has been sent to the General Food Authority.
Saudi Arabia’s General Food Authority has paid the first installment of payments to Saudi wheat farmers who have fulfilled their quantity allocations for the 2024 season.
Through the authority’s official electronic platform Mahsoly, SAR 295,177,176 has been disbursed to around 792 farmers in lieu of payment for around 175,703 tonnes of wheat.
Since the beginning of this year’s wheat harvest season on April 21st, around 552,535 tonnes of wheat from 2,751 farmers has been sent to the General Food Authority.
The move comes as the Saudi Cabinet recently allowed the General Food Authority to purchase up to 1.5 million tonnes of wheat annually from farmers for a period of five years.
