The Egyptian Cabinet has approved the issuance of non-circulating commemorative coins made of gold and silver in celebration of the upcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The coins will be minted in various face values — 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 Egyptian pounds — timed to coincide with the museum’s official opening event on Saturday, November 1st, 2025. The opening will span a three-day global celebration with attendance from international dignitaries. The museum is expected to open to the public on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. The initiative underscores the cultural importance attached to the Grand Egyptian Museum project, offering a symbolic tribute to one of Egypt’s major heritage landmarks.
