Health Ministry Reports 60% Increase in Family Planning Usage in 2024
The Ministry reveals that 3.8 million Egyptian women received reproductive health services last year, marking a significant rise.

According to the latest statistics, 3.8 million Egyptian women received reproductive health services last year, marking a 60% increase compared to previous figures. Additionally, the total fertility rate has declined from 2.85 in 2021 to 2.54 in 2023
The Ministry highlighted the availability of various long-acting family planning methods, offering women effective, long-term options. Many healthcare facilities now provide counselling sessions for prospective couples before issuing health certificates. This practice aims to ensure that individuals receive accurate information about reproductive health.
However, the Ministry noted discrepancies in breastfeeding data within medical records at healthcare centers, attributing these inaccuracies to insufficient monitoring mechanisms. To address this, the Ministry will work to improve evaluation systems to ensure that mothers receive the necessary guidance and counselling, particularly in cases of anemia or malnutrition.
