Health Ministry to Keep Services Running Under Sunday Remote Work Plan
Administrative units move online on Sundays from April 1st while hospitals and ambulances stay on-ground.
Medical services across Egypt will continue without interruption as the Ministry of Health and Population implements remote work for administrative staff on Sundays starting April 1st.
The move follows a broader government directive announced by Mostafa Madbouly to introduce remote work across state entities every Sunday for one month as part of efforts to rationalise energy consumption.
Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said hospitals, ambulance services and health units will remain fully operational, with all medical and treatment services continuing as normal.
The remote work system will apply only to non-field departments, including planning, statistics, finance, administration, licensing and digital transformation. Sectors that provide direct daily services to citizens are excluded from the arrangement.
Administrative teams at the ministry’s central headquarters and across governorate health directorates will work online, while essential on-ground facilities will continue operating at full capacity.
The ministry’s digital infrastructure supports the transition, including a central operations room that monitors hospital occupancy, emergency cases and drug availability in real time.
Electronic medical records allow remote review of patient files and oversight of daily hospital activity. Digital services such as appointment bookings, state-funded treatment enquiries and test result tracking will remain accessible to the public throughout the remote work period.
