Insulin Made in Egypt Will Help Treat Diabetes in Low-Income Countries
The insulin is expected to reach 1 million people across Africa.

Egyptian pharmaceutical company EVA Pharma is set to locally produce insulin for low and middle-income countries, in partnership with American pharmaceutical company Elli Lilly. The production is set to reach 1 million people in Africa per year and will begin distribution in 2024.
Eli Lilly will provide the active pharmaceutical ingredient API to EVA Pharma, and equip them with the necessary technology to locally produce the drug within global standards. The Ministry of Health and Population previously announced the launch of a local insulin production line through Egypt's Medical Union Pharmaceutical Company, which will also export the medicine throughout Africa.
