Israel & Hamas’ 4-Day Ceasefire Terms Explained

Israel and Hamas have agreed to a four-day ceasefire, enabling the release of around 50 hostages, including women and children under 19 years old, who had been held captive in Gaza since Hamas' incursion into southern Israel on October 7th.

The agreement involves an exchange, with Israel releasing 150 Palestinian detainees, including women and children under 19 years old. Priority will be given to those detainees serving the longest sentences.

The Israel Occupation Forces will halt all military actions in Gaza, limiting air sorties to six hours a day in the north and completely ceasing them in southern Gaza. Additionally, Israeli forces will abstain from bringing military vehicles into Gaza during the ceasefire and will not attempt to detain anyone in Gaza.

Hamas has confirmed the success of mediation efforts involving Egypt and Qatar. According to Hamas, hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian, medical, and fuel aid will be allowed into the territory.

At least 14,100 people, including 5,840 children, have been reported killed in Gaza since October 7th, according to Palestinian officials, and about 1.7 million people have been displaced, according to the United Nations.
