Jeddah’s Oldest School Will Be Transformed Into a Museum
Al-Falah School, established in 1905, will transform into a museum celebrating its history and cultural significance.
Al-Falah School, established in 1905 by Saudi businessman Sheikh Mohammed Ali Zainal Alireza, is set to be converted into a museum. Located in Jeddah's historical area, the school holds the distinction of being the first boys' school in the Arabian Peninsula, and is considered a key milestone in the development of modern education in Saudi Arabia.
The transformation, which will be handled by the Ministry of Culture, will include the creation of a museum featuring a cultural space, a heritage-themed café and seating areas, offering visitors a chance to learn about the school’s history and its place in the broader historical context of the region.
The original building of Al-Falah School, which is over 120 years old, will be fully integrated into the museum. Despite the changes, the building has retained much of its traditional character, including its wooden floors, ceilings, doors, and the iconic green dome that sits atop the structure.
Al-Falah School has been the alma mater of many prominent figures in Saudi Arabia, including former ministers and national leaders.
