KSA to Model Treatment Efforts After Egypt’s Anti-Addiction Fund

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is exploring the establishment of a new treatment and rehabilitation centre in Dammam, drawing on the experience of the Egyptian Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse. A delegation from the Kingdom recently visited Egypt’s ‘Azima’ (‘Determination’ in Arabic) centres, which specialise in addiction treatment.

Led by key officials, the delegation aimed to understand the fund's methodologies in detoxification, psychological support, and community reintegration. This visit included a tour of one of the fund's facilities to observe best practices in action. By examining the fund's approach, the Kingdom intends to replicate these successful treatment models, enhancing the support available to individuals recovering from addiction in Dammam.
