Lenovo Expands in Saudi Arabia With USD 2 Billion PC & Server Facility
Lenovo’s move supports its strategy to reduce reliance on manufacturing in China by expanding into new regions.
Chinese-American multinational technology company Lenovo Group has announced a USD 2 billion investment to establish a PC and server manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, in partnership with Alat, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The plant, expected to be operational by 2026, will employ thousands and produce millions of PCs annually. It is expected to become one of the largest high-tech manufacturing facilities in the region.
Lenovo’s move supports its strategy to reduce reliance on manufacturing in China by expanding into new regions, including the Middle East. The company plans to establish a regional headquarters in Riyadh and incorporate local research and development operations.
The facility represents a growing trend among global tech leaders investing in Saudi Arabia. Companies like Huawei, Alibaba Cloud and SoftBank have already established projects.
