Magdi Yacoub Foundation to Open Global Heart Centre in Cairo in August
The Cairo centre will triple the capacity of the Aswan facility, offering free complex heart surgeries and research services.
The Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation has announced that the inauguration of the Global Heart Centre in Cairo will take place in August 2025.
Serving as an extension of the renowned Aswan Heart Centre, the Cairo facility will triple the capacity of its predecessor, offering 300 beds, including 148 intensive care units, and performing up to 3,000 complex open-heart surgeries annually, alongside 123,000 catheterisations.
Designed by world-renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners, the Global Heart Centre spans 100,000 square metres, combining state-of-the-art medical facilities with architectural excellence. It will provide three key services: medical treatment, research and training. Equipped with cutting-edge simulators and AI technology, the centre aims to train medical professionals from Egypt and around the world, empowering them to act as ambassadors for the foundation’s excellence in cardiac care.
The centre will maintain the foundation’s core principle of offering free treatment for all patients, made possible by donations from the Egyptian public and international supporters.
