Major Solar Panel Manufacturing Facility to Be Established in Jeddah
The facility will span 170,000 square metres and feature state-of-the-art production lines with an annual capacity of 5 GW.
Desert Technologies, a renewable energy solutions firm and one of Saudi Arabia's earliest manufacturers and exporters of solar panels, has entered into a partnership with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon).
This collaboration will result in the establishment of a significant industrial complex in Jeddah's third industrial city, aimed at addressing the increasing local demand for solar energy while enhancing the Kingdom's global position in non-oil exports.
The new facility will span 170,000 square metres and feature state-of-the-art production lines with a total annual capacity of up to 5 GW—2 GW for solar panels and 3 GW for solar cells. With an investment of approximately SAR 750 million (USD 200 million), this factory is set to become one of the largest photovoltaic production centres in the Kingdom.
