Makkah Education Launches 'Hour of AI' to Build Digital Skills
Delivered via Madrasati credentials and aligned with the National eLearning Center’s AI competency framework, the initiative covers all grade levels and education staff in the Makkah region.
The General Directorate of Education in the Makkah region launched the Hour of Artificial Intelligence in Education programme to equip students and educators with skills to integrate artificial intelligence into learning and to enhance digital literacy. The programme runs through May 14th, with final registration closing on February 16th.
As part of the global Hour of AI initiative, the programme builds proficiency in using generative AI tools through educational credentials delivered on the Madrasati platform. It follows the National eLearning Center’s framework for artificial intelligence competencies in digital instruction, setting structured learning outcomes for participants across educational settings.
According to the General Directorate of Education in the Makkah region, the initiative seeks to increase understanding of artificial intelligence applications, foster practical expertise among teachers and students, enhance learning outcomes, encourage creativity in academic environments, and prepare participants to navigate modern technologies responsibly. The scope includes students from all grade levels as well as educational professionals across local institutions.
Participation is open across the region’s schools and education bodies, with activities designed to embed artificial intelligence tools and methods within classroom practice and administrative tasks. The approach combines credential-based learning on the Madrasati platform with competencies defined by the National eLearning Center, enabling a standardised pathway for teachers and students to develop digital skills relevant to current educational needs.
