Ministry of Health Introduces Unified Health Screenings for Students
All students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 will be subject to annual health examinations.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) has launched an initiative to standardise health screenings for students from kindergarten to Grade 12. This new program, called the National School Health Screening Guideline, aims to bring together healthcare practices and help identify any potential health issues in schoolchildren across the country.
Students are expected to go through a range of health checks, including vision tests, dental check-ups, and scoliosis screenings. They’ll also have their height, weight, and body mass index measured, and their medical records will be updated to ensure accurate information. Vaccination status will be reviewed to make sure all students are up-to-date with their shots.
The guideline is designed to provide clear instructions for healthcare professionals on how to perform these screenings effectively. It also includes hearing tests, and evaluations of mental and emotional health. There’s also an awareness series tailored to different age groups, aimed at ensuring students receive the right support early on.
Moreover, this initiative fits into a broader vision that aligns with sustainable development goals and the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, which aims to secure optimal health for future generations while promoting a sustainable future.
