Ministry of Interior Launches AI Service for People With Disabilities
The ministry’s Absher platform now includes a personal assistance service that utilises AI and voice recognition technology.
The Ministry of Interior's Absher platform - an electronic platform allowing citizens, residents and visitors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to access services within the Ministry of Interior's sectors, including passports, civil affairs and traffic - has launched a personal assistance service for people with disabilities. The service uses advanced artificial intelligence and voice recognition technologies to enable people with disabilities to more conveniently use Absher's services.
With people with disabilities making up 7.1% of Saudi Arabia's population, the Kingdom has been focusing on addressing their diverse needs. In August 2023, Saudi Arabia's Council of Ministers approved a law that would help improve the quality of services for people with disabilities, and serve as a foundation for their rights across many aspects of society, including education, employment, healthcare and culture.
