Ministry of Interior Launches E-ID for Hajj Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
The new service allows Hajj pilgrims to authenticate their identity virtually through the Absher and Tawakkalna platforms.

The Ministry of Interior has launched a new digital identity service for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia during the 2024 Hajj season. Through the Absher and Tawakkalna platforms, pilgrims will now be able to authenticate their identities. These ID cards will then allow the pilgrims to be identifiable at the various sites around Makkah where the Hajj rituals take place. The new Hajj digital ID initiative is a collaboration between numerous Saudi governmental arms, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority.
