'Nabatik' Takes Root to Promote Tree Planting in Makkah

The Holy Makkah Municipality has launched ‘Nabatik’, a digital platform that allows individuals to remotely contribute to tree planting efforts across Makkah and its sacred sites. The initiative supports the Kingdom’s environmental sustainability objectives, particularly in increasing vegetation cover and reducing carbon emissions.

Through the platform, users can view available planting sites, choose from region-appropriate tree species, make payments online, and arrange for trees to be planted on their behalf by municipal teams. The system also maps suitable planting zones, with species selected based on Makkah’s climate and ecological needs.

‘Nabatik’ is part of a wider strategy to encourage public participation in afforestation and urban greening projects in line with the Saudi Green Initiative. The platform is designed to make environmental contributions more accessible while supporting Makkah’s ongoing transformation into a more sustainable and climate-conscious city.
