Saudi Air Traffic Soars With 128 Million Passengers in 2024
Flight traffic rose to over 900,000 flights, cargo volumes climbed 34%, and the national fleet grew 11% in 2024.

Saudi Arabia’s air travel sector saw growth in 2024, with total passenger traffic reaching 128 million, marking a 15% year-on-year increase, according to the General Authority for Statistics. International travellers accounted for 69 million passengers (up 14%), while domestic travel rose 16% to 59 million.
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport led the country’s aviation activity with nearly 49 million passengers, followed by King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
Flight activity also rose across the board. A total of 905,000 flights were recorded in 2024—474,000 domestic (up 12%) and 431,000 international (up 10%). Cargo transport experienced a sharp uptick as well, with volumes increasing 34% to 1.2 million tonnes, primarily driven by international freight.
Supporting this surge, Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation fleet expanded by 11%, reaching 361 aircraft.
