Nasr City Begins Construction of New Walking Track

Construction has begun on a new dedicated walking track along Ibrahim Abu Al-Naga Street in East Nasr City, as part of Egypt’s national ‘Track in the Street’ initiative. The project, led by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Cairo Governorate, is designed to promote healthier lifestyles by integrating safe and accessible spaces for physical activity into existing urban environments.

The Nasr City walkway will span 400 metres and is being developed in coordination with Enppi and other national partners responsible for infrastructure implementation. The design focuses on encouraging daily walking and jogging in a pedestrian-friendly space, addressing a growing demand for health-focused public infrastructure.

This effort is part of a wider strategy to incorporate exercise-friendly amenities throughout Egypt’s urban landscape, particularly in densely populated districts where green or open spaces are limited. The programme aligns with broader government goals to promote public health and urban mobility by improving residents’ access to safe outdoor areas for recreation and fitness.

Further walkways under the ‘Track in the Street’ programme are expected to be announced in additional neighbourhoods as the initiative expands.
