National Council for Women Launches Women’s Cinema Initiative
Run under the Noura programme with the United Nations Population Fund, the initiative features screenings and discussions, addressing issues such as female genital mutilation and child marriage.

The National Council for Women (NCW) has officially launched the Women's Cinema initiative, under the Noura programme and in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The first phase of the project is being rolled out in the governorates of Suhaj, Beni Suef and Dakahlia, and comes under the patronage of First Lady Entissar El-Sisi. Targeting girls aged 10 to 14 and their families, the initiative offers interactive film screenings followed by discussion sessions designed to foster critical thinking and address issues such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage and broader women’s and girls’ rights. The program aims to harness the power of storytelling to engage communities and transform perceptions at the grassroots level. The initiative aligns with the overarching goals of the Noura Programme, which seeks to nurture a generation of empowered young women. Over the course of 40 weeks, participants will access workshops and activities focused on health, social, economic and civic development.
