National Strategy to Combat Drug Abuse & Trafficking Announced
The newly established strategy focuses on enhancing deterrence measures for drug dealers and promoters at both local and international levels.
Addressing the growing challenges of drug abuse and trafficking, the UAE Cabinet has adopted a comprehensive national strategy aimed at combating the rising issues. Announced during the 2024 UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi on November 4th, the initiative was chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The newly established strategy focuses on enhancing deterrence measures for drug dealers and promoters at both local and international levels. Key components of the initiative include the establishment of rehabilitation centres for individuals struggling with addiction, raising community awareness about the dangers of drug use, and the implementation of correctional facilities for offenders.
