Neom Green Hydrogen Project is 90% Complete
The joint venture by Neom Air Products and ACWA Power will use around 4 GW of wind and solar, with total investment of about USD 8.5 billion.
The Neom green hydrogen project in northwestern Saudi Arabia is 90% complete, with construction nearing its final phase. The facility is being developed by the Neom Green Hydrogen Company, an equal joint venture between Neom, Air Products and ACWA Power.
Designed to be powered entirely by renewable energy, the project integrates around 4 GW of onshore wind and solar capacity with storage to produce green hydrogen via electrolysis. The plant is planned to produce 600 tonnes of hydrogen per day, which will be converted into up to 1.2 million tonnes per year of green ammonia for export. Air separation units will supply nitrogen, and Air Products is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor. First product availability is expected in 2027.
Project cost is about USD 8.5 billion. Construction progress includes delivery and installation of major equipment such as wind turbines, hydrogen storage vessels, electrolysers, the cold box and pipe racks. The programme also covers a wind garden, a solar farm and a transmission grid to supply the hydrogen facility.
