Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) has launched a new AI-powered digital platform, Salama, which has been designed to simplify and speed up visa renewal procedures for residents and their family members. Salama is able to complete visa renewal in minutes, a process which formerly took hours.

Once a user logs in to Salama, AI automatically recognises their details and displays their dependent’s visa status and information, showing the remaining days before its expiration. The applicant can then set the renewal duration. The system instantly processes the request. Salama allows residents to download the updated document directly.

The service currently only focuses on residents’ visa renewals. Its second phase will expand to cover services for visitors and tourists, and will also eventually be available for companies.
